Pentagon 9/11 Memorial

I went out to the Pentagon 9/11 memorial today.  The detail, and the symbolism of every component of the memorial is so impressive (as was the Flight 93 Memorial).  It makes me want to see all the designs that were submitted but not chosen.  Additional photos on flickr:  Pentagon Memorial

Each of the 184 people killed when flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon has his/her own bench in the memorial.  Names are inscribed on the end of the bench (which faces the Pentagon if the person was inside and faces the sky if the person was on the plane), and any family members who also died that day are inscribed at the water line (as well as having their own bench).  The benches are arranged by year of birth, beginning with the youngest victim at age 3.

This entire family was killed.  Dana was the youngest victim, and died with her parents and sister.
