Theodore Roosevelt Island (Virginia/DC)

One of Theodore Roosevelt’s greatest legacies was his dedication to conservation. Today, this island stands as a fitting memorial to the outdoorsman, naturalist, and visionary who was our 26th President.   (http://www.nps.gov/this/index.htm)

I thought I'd get out of the city and enjoy nature.  Well....sort of.  This island has a busy freeway on one side and is right in the path of planes taking off and landing at Reagan, so it wasn't as peaceful as I'd hoped.  Still, it was interesting.  I hiked around the perimeter.
